What to do with Farmer’s Market Watermelon & Tomatoes?

Recipe: Watermelon Adria Style

Summary: Fresh Watermelon & Tomato Skewers

Ingredients

  • Watermelon (cut into bite sized squares)
  • Yellow Pear Tomatoes (cut in half)
  • Basil Leaves
  • Saffron
  • White Wine
  • Olive Oil
  • Sea Salt

Instructions

  1. Warm 1/2 cup white wine with about 6 saffron strands & let chill.
  2. Soak Tomato halves in wine with saffron in fridge to infuse flavor.
  3. Skewer a sqaure of watermelon with a piece of basil followed by one of the yellow tomato halves.
  4. Drizzle with extra virgin olive oil and sprinkle with coarse sea salt. (black is nice for color)

Quick Notes

Serve chilled with a Spanish white such as Albariño or Garnacha Blanca!
